Gemini 2: The Duplicate Finder App Reviews

I never used any other version of this program except Gemini 2 and can’t say enough how impressed I find it. Before installing it my MB Pro was getting slower and slower even though I regularly performed utilities to reduce clutter and scan for junk. After running G2 the first time it was noticeably faster and amazed me in what it found that I didn’t. Now I wish I had the earlier version to compare. I love this program.

I purchased this program in good faith. I cannot get the program to work for me. There is little to no documentation teaching you how to use it, and I’m no dummy to computers. If I resolve my issues with the use of this product, I will adjust my rating.

I’ve used the orginal Gemini which was very good. This version is good, but the iTunes integration is broken. It seems like the product is not a polished as it should be for version 2.3.2. For example one cannot restore defaults so if you select not to open iTunes you cannot scan your itunes libaries without reinstalling Gemini 2.

I just got this application , and I had so many duplicates and it was able to find and clean then up. I am so happy with this application

I don’t get it. Version one was so much better. Gemini 2 is very very slow and the interface isn’t as straight forward as V1. It isn’t as clear what you are deleting.

Seems to work pretty well. I tried a freebie version first to see if I’d like it and so far so good. Ive been sitting here for the last hour pulling up a zillion duplicate files i didn’t even realized I had. Freed up a lot of space!

I work in sales and I am contantly downloading exhibit designs for my work and saving things. By doing so, it uses so much space on my computer so once I have cleaned my mac with ‘Clean My Mac 3’ ehich superb to remove junk, cache junk and everything else from all folders, I then use ‘Gemini 2’ to remove any duplicates and it said I had about 7.9gb of duplicate stuff. Anyways, my mac is back to being fast as usual!

Gemini2 is neat, simple and very smart duplicate management tool. I used most duplicate management tools ever released on MacOs, I can recommend Gemini to other persons without any hesitation. Yes, totally sure, there are more powerful tools for the same purpose, however, they are usually powerful, but not so good for easy-to-use. Gemini is Powerful, but Simple, Simple, but Easy-to-Use Tool. You must be satisfied!!

The first thing it does when started is playing an annoying sound ala Windows log-in that - if you happen to have your volume left too high - can wake your whole house and some neighbours too. Oh, and if you just got your child(ren) eventually fall asleep so that you can test your shiny new tool then you might as well forget. Of course leaving volume up is not so safe but hey, you wouldnt expect a file duplicate tool to start entertaining the whole block with "multimedia" effects, would you? Once thats done though - the next thing it does is to call half a dozen of "analytics" services designed to analyse your usage patterns or in more plain language - to spy on you. And thats long before you even had a chance to test if it does anything useful for you. Well done, MacPaw. Truly well done.

Gemini 2 works as advertised, the ability to look inside your itunes and Photo collection is definitely a life saver! New design and application flow is also greatly appreciated. Keep up the great work and don’t forget to continue to enhance the usability, function and design of Gemini 2.0!

I used the previous version, but tought it was missing something. This is so much better. and the new interface: I like it!

The applications seems slower and they have removed a really useful feature…select al duplicates by folder. Also you cannot bulk previw duplicates …. overall I think it finds more duplicates, but I liked the old interface better.

I loved Gemini 1 but these update has made it unusable for me. I ran the app and it found many files but the ease in which to select the files is TERRIBLE! In the first version it was great I could see the file location so I could make a smart choice on which file to delete. I tried calling the company and talked to a girl that was unable to speak clear english and was no help. Wish I had no purchased this update

I have multiple 3Tb external harddrives that I need to check through for duplicates. However, Gemini 2 has a maximum scan limit of 999Gb’s per scan. How can I hook up multiple harddrives and scan through them together when my maximum I need is 12Tb? This is the only reason I didn’t give this app a 5-star rating.

I thought the original Gemini was one of the better duplicate cleaners, so when I heard that a new and improved Gemini was available, I rushed to try it. I have used it only once, and while I guess it does an OK job of identifying duplicate files, I felt that there was much to be desired with the similar file search. While having a similar file search is a big plus for a duplicate cleaner for Mac, when I tried the similar file search on a set of images, I found that there were a few groups of images marked as being similar to each other that were very large, containing tens or even hundreds of completely unrelated pictures. Not only would having preset selection preferences along all criteria be nice for both duplicate and similar files, but having a way to adjust the scanning criteria for similar files would not only make this feature more effective, but probably more efficient as well.

Best duplicate finder.It does give you the file path to the duplicates OR the date so you can make an informed decision on deleting. Reviewer on May 10 was way off for giving a bad review thinknig the path location view is gone. It is not gone. It is still there. Should had looked harder!

I tried and tried Stop after every folder Does no scan afte a second Just sits there. Once I selected the Music Library folder, It quicly found 60 GB of Dupes no other utility has touched WOW. Now I see why this was so highly rated by a reviewer … I would suggest that thii is suggested to the Byers

I had Gemini version 1, and while the current price is 50% off its not really an upgrade offer for existing customers since everyone can get it. If you don’t have Gemini yet, get it. If you already have version 1, I don’t consider this worth the upgrade.

Opened and dropped my home folder in the search area, immediately started searching and came up with a crash report when it asked permission to scan my iTunes library. Now it’s stuck. Going back to the original until the bugs in this are worked out. I’m sure it will be a good program eventually but it doesn’t seem like all the bugs are worked out.
